Bat Facts

In Canada, since 1925, nearly 20% of all cases of human rabies have been due to contact with an infected bat.

Bats

A small flying mammal, bats are nocturnal and can usually be found roosting in tree cavities. However, due to urbanization, bats have been found to inhabit man made structures, with attics being one of the most common places. Bats can fit through a 1 inch opening making it difficult to discover their entry points. Bat feces can accumulate and cause extensive contamination and property damage. Ontario has 8 species of bats. The little brown bat and the big brown bat are the most commonly encountered.

Bats generally produce 1 offspring per year, usually in may. Although bats eat insects, and are not generally aggressive, if they are cornered and captured they can bite. If bitten, seek a doctor as bats can carry and spread rabies.

We apply a one way door system and elusion techniques to rid bats from your property.
